The first written record of Žehušice dates from 1352, when it was owned by Vítek ze Žehušic. Žehušice Chateau was built in 1679 by Michael Osvald Thun-Hohenstein and underwent a Neoclassical reconstruction from 1810 to 1826. In the Žehušice game reserve, protected as a natural monument since 1920, a breeding herd of white deer lives. The Church of St Mark in Žehušice is a Baroque building dating from 1760.
